The Setting

Little Lamps Nursery is a ‘Barnet Architecture Award’ winning building that has been purposely built to meet the needs of the children. It is a highly functional, modern, and attractive design. The building does not shy away from daylight. It is designed to facilitate children’s holistic needs and encourages independence.

Bright classroom, allowing plenty of sunlight and ample toilets to support your child’s independence during self-care and personal hygiene. The classroom is subdivided into seven areas and caters to all children’s needs and their well-being. There is also an allocated cosy resting area for children who require rest and naps.

One of the many elements that make Little Lamps Nursery unique is the presence of the modern design indoor gym, that encourages gross as well as fine motor development.

Sensory room

We recognise that perception of the senses lies in the heart of the child’s learning of the environment and hence, Little Lamps Nursery has a designated sensory room that has been specially designed for children to explore different colours, lights, and a variety of sounds and textures. Sensory play hugely benefits the child’s refinement of sense of the look, listen, touch, taste, and smell.  It enhances brain development, strengthens language and communication, improves gross and fine motor skills, experimenting with mathematical and problem-solving skills, spatial awareness, and adapting to new ways of learning.

Outdoor Play Area
Outdoor Play Area

The outdoor space is certainly a highlight of Little Lamps Nursery. Children hugely benefit from exploring various resources and movements that they are unable to explore indoors. Children are free to explore all the areas without any constraints to their physical, mental, or imaginative play.

One of the main aims of our outdoor play area is to emphasize healthy living styles and encourage exercise, cycling, walking, and jogging. Children interact directly and experience what nature has to offer and at the same time appreciate, learn about various habitats of living organisms and life in general. Making calculated decisions, omitting obstacles, taking acceptable risks, all enhance the child’s ‘to do attitude’.

Online safety

We take Online safety very seriously. Hence, all our gadgets are password and internet protect. We constantly talk to children on how to keep ourselves safe and talk to an adult when they feel uncomfortable about their experiences on any virtual platform.

ICT
ICT

A prepared environment plays a significant role in child development, however, a ‘Prepared environment’ is only truly prepared when activities meet all the learning needs. Simpler yet channeling and extended learning take utmost priority. Learning ICT skills is more significant than ever before as these are one of the many varieties of skills children need in their lives.

ICT supports both Fine motor skills – these are the small movements that occur with eye and hand coordination such as moving the mouse and typing. As well as Gross motor skills – these are writing and drawing on the 64-inch interactive board.

ICT skills also support children’s creativity and imaginative thinking and creating. Children learn virtual dropping, picking, and transferring objects.

Our learning programs aid children’s Mathematics and Language development. Children get ample opportunities to explore learning software such as counting and matching sizes and shapes. Children learn phonics sounds, the correct pronunciation of words, and learn new words. Children also get introduced to early Grammar such as Nouns, prepositions, and pronounces.

All of the above have a positive impact on the child’s confidence and social skills both in real-life experiences as well as virtual life experiences.
